The drop out after a first hospitalization, a bad prognosis in relationship with the duration of untreated psychosis and a high percentage of suicide attempts before the onset of psychosis were definite arguments to take this issue seriously. In this article, we intend to describe from a practical point of view our program for FEP by stressing the importance of case management. After describing shortly the new trend throughout the world towards emerging psychosis, we will focus on our work in Lausanne and conclude by our research centered on this young population. © 2013 Elsevier Masson SAS.
