IS - 2 N2 - This article highlights the importance of sleeping disorders and, mostly, of nightmare, which characterize Freudian melancholy, dominated by the devastating effects of superego or by the triumph of object a. This article also answers the question of how, and why, the subject of melancholy then looks for a remedy in chemical salvation (in this case, psychotropics), which soothes the effects of the "death instinct outburst", characterizing melancholy and possibly leading to suicide, assessed by Lacan as "the only act which can be achieved effectively".
