TY - JOUR PY - 2013// TI - Morselli, Rensi, Leopardi and the suicide philosophy JO - Rassegna della Letteratura Italiana A1 - Bertelli, D. SP - 471 EP - 484 VL - 117 IS - 2 N2 - The present work investigates Guido Morselli's reflection on suicide from a theological and philosophical perspective. My research will show how Morselli's notes in his private diary, which concentrate on concepts such as "vita come condanna a morte", "amor proprio", "rifiuto della vita", and "libero arbitrio", riverberate on both the composition of his first novel, Uomini e amori, and his theological and philosophical essay, Fede e critica. The analisys will be supported by introducing Morselli's sources, which have so far been negleted, such as Giacomo Leopardi's Zibaldone and Giuseppe Rensi's Dialogo dei morti, along with a further investigation of both The Book of Job and the Ecclesiastes.
