N2  - Based on the review of suicidological studies, this paper presents certain aspects of suicidal acts in older people, with special reference to suicidal behavior (suicide attempts, committed suicide) among elderly nursing home residents. The major interest was focused on the scale of this phenomenon and the characteristics of suicidal acts (suicide methods and determinants), as well as on preventive interventions.
