N2  - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has warned that patients being treated for smoking cessation with varenicline may develop depression. A case of successful treatment for depression with varenicline is described. The patient's depression recurred several times with inadvertent varenicline discontinuation, then remitted again after resuming varenicline.
