N2  - Interventions of Educational Institute of Emergency Medicine of the City of Zagreb were analyzed because of the accidents among children and youth, during the four year period, namely, since 1st January 2010 until 31st December 2013, in the area of the City of Zagreb. The total number of interventions among the patients in the age of 0 to 24 years old was 3503. Among those, 1111 (32%) interventions were caused by accidents. Injuries are classified as intentional and unintentional. Intentional injuries are suicide attempts, while traffic accidents, falls, burns, poisonings and other accidents (animal bites, insect bites, physical attacks and contacts with sharp or blunt objects) are characterized as unintentional injuries. The most common cause of interventions were poisonings, mostly caused by alcohol intoxication, in the age group of 15 to 19 years old, after which follow the injuries caused by falls also in the age group of 15 to 19 years old, and on the third place were traffic accidents, mostly in the age group of 20 to 24 years old. 60% of interventions were among the males. Only suicide attempts were more common among females. Frequency of interventions caused by injuries were analyzed according to individual years, months, days of the week and parts of the day covered by this study. Most interventions were recorded in 2012-326 in total. During the observed years we recorded an increase of interventions caused by poisonings.<p /> <p>Language: hr</p>
