In a city like Bangalore more than 50% of cases of suicides are due to hanging. Sometimes hanging is preferred as the last resort after all other methods have failed to produce the desired effect. This cross sectional study has been under taken by the first author working in a postgraduate medical college. The aim of the study was to find out the neck injuries in hanging deaths and to correlate similar findings undertaken by the eminent personalities in the field of forensic medicine. The internal findings in cases of hanging deaths help the autopsy surgeon to decide and opine the manner of death of the individual. © 2015 South India Medico-Legal Association. All rights reserved.
