N2  - The authors set about discerning the subjective logic which led Richard Durn to murder and seriously injure a large number of municipal councilors in Nanterre, France, in March 2002, before committing suicide. Although this tragedy has given rise to a large number of articles focusing on the political dimension of these crimes, little research has been conducted into the rationale for the deeds perpetrated.
