Apart from epilepsy, it has also been prescribed for bipolar affective disorder, schizo affective disorder, schizophrenia and migraine prophylaxis (1). Acute intoxication has been reported after it is taken by accident or deliberately. In the cases, coma, respiratory failure, renal failure, acute pancreatitis, central nervous system depression, hepatotoxicity, leukocytopenia, thrombocytopenia and death have been reported (2). In this article, the importance of differential diagnosis in suicide attempts that take place after multiple drug intake was stressed by presenting a suicide case which took VPA in toxic doses as well as antidepressant and antipsychotic drugs.
