N2 - OBJECTIVES: To identify the attitudinal factors about beliefs of suicidal behavior in students of Psychology and Medicine of the department of Cesar.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Quantitative study of descriptive scope, cross section. The sample consisted of 300 students of the Psychology and Medicine programs, of which 43% were between the ages of 18 and 20, and 41% from 21 to 27 years. The instrument applied was the questionnaire of attitudinal beliefs about suicidal behavior (CCCS-18). The data analysis was carried out through the SPSS, which contributed to organizing the information in frequency tables to differentiate categories and the information found, giving an analysis for the compression of the information obtained.
RESULTS: Psychology students have greater moral rejection (17.0) but also greater acceptance of suicide itself (9.3). On the other hand, medical students have a greater attitude towards legitimizing suicide (12.1) and a greater attitude towards its justification in terminally ill patients (13.0).
CONCLUSIONS: Students have a greater favorable attitude towards the acceptance of suicide in terminally ill patients, they consider suicide as a justifiable act and morality intervenes to make the decision. © 2020, Venezuelan Society of Pharmacology and Clinical and Therapeutic Pharmacology.
