N2 - INTRODUCTION: The suicide attempt is defined as any self-inflicted action with the purpose of harming oneself in a lethal way and whose result was not death. In adolescence it is a public health problem, with an increase in morbidity and mortality rates.
OBJECTIVE: To characterize adolescents with suicidal behavior treated in a pediatric emergency service.
METHODS: An observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out from November 2020 to January 2022. Of 82 pediatric patients attended during the period with suspected suicide attempt, 45 were selected according to inclusion criteria. The variables are described: age, sex, origin, triggering situation and form of the suicide attempt.
RESULTS: Predominance was found between 15 and 18 years of age (84%), female (80%); in 62% the adolescents were of urban origin; In 40% of the cases, the main triggering problem was family problems and the form of the attempt was the ingestion of medications (65%).
