TY - JOUR PY - 2022// TI - Deadly Destruction in the Tales of Boris Vian JO - Theleme A1 - Talavera, A.C. SP - 101 EP - 109 VL - 37 IS - 1 N2 - This study proposes an approach to the thematic recurrence of the death of the characters in Vian's stories linked to the abrupt and explosive destruction of space as a significant allusion to the inexorable passage of time and as a-death violent reaction to the usury of disease. The large number and variety of murders and suicides that occur in his short stories deserve an analysis, since they seem to respond to the advocation proposed by Boris Vian of freedom and lucidity and to a figuration of the victim-executioner relationships very often observed in his fiction. The disease is linked to the morbid aquatic element. The surface of stagnant water is linked to the Vian's obsession with death and the double. Death that he prefers willful and violent -often humorous with hints of black humor- by fall or beheading. © 2022, Universidad Compultense Madrid. All rights reserved.
