TY - JOUR PY - 2005// TI - Sex differences in the willingness to betray and switch romantic partners JO - Swiss journal of psychology A1 - Greitemeyer, Tobias A1 - Hengmith, Simone A1 - Fischer, Peter SP - 265 EP - 272 VL - 64 IS - 4 N2 - The present study examined sex differences in the willingness to accept a hypothetical sexual offer by different potential partners. 95 female and male participants were asked to imagine that their current partner was of moderate socioeconomic status, with a photo of moderate physical attractiveness. For each of four partners, depicted as either being of high or moderate socioeconomic status, with a photo of either high or moderate physical attractiveness, participants reported their willingness to date, to have sexual intercourse, and to leave their current partner for the new partner. Women and men reported a greater willingness to accept an offer by a potential partner who was highly, relative to moderately, attractive. Whereas women reported a greater willingness to accept an offer by a potential partner having a high, relative to moderate, socioeconomic status, men preferred the potential partner of medium socioeconomic status.
