N2  - Aim of this study to assess the magnitude of the problem of suicidal behaviour and its correlates among High School adolescents aged 16-18 years in Alexandria, Egypt. A stratified random sample of 426 students was taken from 12 secondary school in Alexandria, Egypt. A self report questionnaire containing demographic data, and some associated factors with suicide, Affiliation Scale, Taylor Anxiety Inventory and Adolescent Attitude Towards Suicide Scale were applied to the selected sample. High anxiety scores and family history of chronic orgaic illness were considered as associated factors with risky attitude toward suicide. The predictors of students who had seriously thought of suicide were high anxity score, risky attitude toward suicide, poor affiliation score, and having no hobbies. The predictors of students who had tried to harm themselves [without serious morbidity], were high anxiety scores and family history of chronic organic illness. Adolescent suicide behaviour is a public health problem. Primary care providers both in the office and in the community can enhance preventive efforts<p /> <p>Language: en</p>
