TY - JOUR PY - 1992// TI - spectrum of depressive symptoms in Kuwaiti patients JO - Journal of the Bahrain Medical Society A1 - M., Fakhir El Islam SP - 97 EP - 100 VL - 4 IS - 3 N2 - The core of depressive symptomatology in Kuwaiti patients most of the core manifestations reported in other studies of depression. Notable exceptions were feelings of guilt, hopelessness and suicide. Indirect presentations of depressed mood were more common than direct presentations with sadness and joylessness. The latter, like guilt, were signs that had to be elicited by specific enquiry rather than symptoms volunteered by patients. Hypochondriasis as a depressive symptom was not more common in Kuwaiti patients than in other studies. Cultural factors influence the pattern of depressive manifestations and their interpretation and management
