SP - 65 EP - 76 VL - 2 IS - 1 N2 - Statistical studies in Singapore have indicated that the rate of attempted suicide for Indian females is strikingly higher than that of Chinese and Malay families. This study covered Indian women aged 15-39 years who had been admitted to a government hospital after a suicide attempt. Analysis of interviews undertaken revealed that a complex synergy of sociopsychological cum cultural factors explained the problem at hand. © 1992 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
