TY - JOUR PY - 1992// TI - Low cerebrospinal fluid levels of 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid and murder-suicide: A case report JO - Nordic journal of psychiatry A1 - Lidberg, L. A1 - Winborg, I.-m. A1 - Åsberg, M. SP - 419 EP - 420 VL - 46 IS - 6 N2 - A case of murder and suicide is described. A man killed his two sons and also almost their mother. The clinical profile suggested paranoid schizophrenic disorder. The conentration of 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) was notably low, which is in line with earlier reports indicating that violent and suicidal men have low concentration of 5-HIAA in CSF, especially those who have killed their children. © 1992 Informa UK Ltd All rights reserved: reproduction in whole or part not permitted.
