N2  - The study follows up a group of former mental patients (n == 302), most of them schizophrenic, through the Swedish Police Register and the Cause of Death Register at Statistics Sweden, for a period of 14 years. Almost half of those who were in the age group 20-40 years at the start of the period had either committed suicide or were listed in the Police Register.
