N2 - Applied the Risk and Rescue Scale, a measurement of suicidal acting-out behavior, to 97 Ss who had attempted suicide at least 1 time.
RESULTS differ with those found by A. D. Weisman and J. W. Worden (1972). Two hypotheses were offered: The differences were due to the specific nature of each population, or they were due to the observers. In Phase 2, 170 attempted suicides were used to evaluate these hypotheses using the Risk and Rescue Scale. Analysis of the results of these 2 phases and those of Weisman and Worden suggests that the observers in Phase 1 and the respective populations in both phases contributed to the differences found in this study and the earlier study. When only suicide attempt repeaters were considered, these differences became more obvious. (Dutch abstract) (11 ref) (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
