More than 75% of men and women in this study listened to news about Hurricane Katrina, yet one third of the men said that they may or would not evacuate. In this study, being influenced by the outcomes of Hurricane Katrina and belief in following the advice of county officials were the only two statistically significant predictors of evacuation tendency.
