N2  - In this paper I demonstrate the clinical utility of techniques referred to as ?developmental help? in the psychotherapeutic process with a very disturbed adult patient. The proximal goal of the suggested interventions is to engage the patient in a more ?classical? psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Case material and discussion are provided to clarify and show how these interventions facilitate the process of engaging these difficult to treat patients.<p />
