The Brazilian Ministry of Health has launched some initiatives to face this problem, by its General Coordination of Noncommunicable Diseases and Conditions of the Health Surveillance Secretariat, organizing the I National Seminar on Noncommunicable Diseases and Conditions and Health Promotion in September 2005. During this event, an Agenda on Accidents and Violence Surveillance, Prevention, and Control was discussed and oficially presented. This paper presents the agenda’s four axes on which prevention activities were developed and organized: I - Accidents and Violence Surveillance and Information System Implementation; II - Management; III - Intervention; and IV - Research and evaluation support.
