N2  - In a trauma-center based study of 145 persons seriously injured in 128 high-speed vehicular crashes, crash reconstructions were conducted to determine the events of the crash. Data on the nature of the crash, including the delta V, vehicle trajectories, point of impact, and evidence of pre-crash circumstances, such as braking, were determined by the crash reconstructionists. In addition, an interview was conducted with the patient and/or family to validate the crash circumstances. Whenever possible, corroborating information from witnesses and police reports were also obtained by the social worker/interviewer. The focus of this report is those crashes where there was no readily apparent cause except for the medical condition of the driver.<p />
