TY - JOUR PY - 1988// TI - "Greenhouse" impacts: windshields, A-pillars and roofs of passenger cars in simulated car-moose collisions JO - Proceedings: Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine Annual Conference A1 - Lofling, T A1 - Svensson, Leif A1 - Thorson, Jan SP - 25 EP - 38 VL - 32 IS - N2 - Underride collisions and roll-overs give rise to passenger car greenhouse impacts. Among the former ones car-moose collisions are frequent in Sweden. Skull, face and neck injuries were predominating effects of these collisions. Injury mechanisms were reproduced by experimental collisions with a moose-dummy and a moose cadaver and by pendulum impacts. Occupational environment standards for passenger cars should be introduced in Sweden. The US FMVSS 205 and 216 should be supplemented by demands for antilacerative capacity of windshields (No 205) and increased deformation tolerance of roofs (No 216).
