The aspect of long term consequences is also discussed. Biomechanical aspects of the injury mechanisms are reviewed and parameters that are considered crucial for the causation of injuries are discussed. The final part of the paper outlines future research needs. The purpose has been to find guidelines for the improvement of head restraints.
