TY - JOUR PY - 1986// TI - The Breed air bag JO - American Association for Automotive Medicine quarterly jurnal A1 - Breed, DS SP - 22 EP - 24 VL - 8 IS - 1 N2 - Airbags, as complements to seat belts, or on their own, are an important automatic means of injury reduction. The major obstacle to widespread airbag use has been the cost of conventional electrically initiated airbags. The Breed Corporation, however, has developed a self-contained, all-mechanical airbag that is vastly simpler than electrical systems and therefore more reliable and far less expensive. This article describes the design features of the Breed airbag, the current status of its development, results of collision tests, and the findings of three independent cost estimates.
