N2  - Physical examination for driver licensing could be an important factor in reducing motor vehicle accidents. Examinations must be performed which are fair to the individual and at the same time directed toward protecting the public. Since it would be impossible to examine all drivers at once, priorities must be established. It is important that the persons most likely to be involved in crashes should be prevented from driving. Research is required to correlate the relationship between physical limitations and crashes. It is necessary to protect the public from unnecessary hardship, to control the alcoholic, to improve the medically handicapped to the point where he may drive with safety, and to examine all commercial vehicle drivers. The Interstate Commerce Commission should establish more rigid criteria for commercial vehicle drivers.<p />
