N2  - The objective of restraint is to hold the occupant securing in his seat and to take the loadings which may be imposed on his body on the strongest parts of the body, i.e. the pelvis and rib cage. In view of the increasing incidence of rear end impact, the neck must also be protected against injury. Rear seated passengers should be restrained by limiting their forward travel.    The engineering development of a seat to fulfill these objectives has resulted in the model shown here.<p />
