TY - JOUR PY - 1927// TI - The Rural Mind: A Study in Occupational Attitude JO - American journal of sociology A1 - Smith, W. C. SP - 771 EP - 786 VL - 32 IS - 5 N2 - There is a different between the characteristics socio-psychic traits of rural and urban dwellers. The causes of these differences may be considered from four points of view: (1) selection, (2) isolation, (3) domestication, and (4) occupation. The occupational activities are fundamental in the development of attitudes, and, since rural occupational conditions are so far different from those of the city, the differences between the two groups may be largely accounted for in this way.
