METHODS: A random sample of 2475 Tehranian households were asked on perceived risk of injury, risk-taking behaviors, experience of injuries, and their perception of ability to manage the harmful events during the ILWEF. RESULTS: Lower perceived injury risk and higher perceived ability of managing an injured household member were associated with participation in fireworks practice and incidence of injury. CONCLUSION: These findings can be of practical importance to increase safety during festivals by improving risk perception in the community.
