Abstract

Family violence is prevalent and professional nurses need to be skilled in nursing its victims. The use of the Battered Women's Shelter is an outstanding clinical agency with high potential for student learning. Students gain recognition of their own and other's value system and the importance of allowing others the mastery of life. The process of psychiatric nursing can be discovered and practiced in the shelter agency.
