Abstract

This monograph focuses upon the ever burgeoning problem of child abuse which is now almost tantamount to a national epidemic, as evidenced by the ever increasing accounts in all segments of the media. It attempts to call the attention of physicians and other health care workers to the need for their cooperation in the diagnosis and treatment of this heinous condition. It focuses upon the civic duties of professionals and lay persons to uncover the perpetrators of the acts and prosecute them to the extent of the law. It also reminds the health care workers of the penalties that may be assessed for their failure to follow the dictates of the statutes.
