Abstract

The aim of this paper is to look briefly at some of the newer technologies currently being applied in centrifuge studies and which have the potential to provide much of the data needed to elucidate the mechanisms involved in G-LOC. Of particular interest are techniques which use near-infrared spectroscopy to measure cerebral oxygen status at the cellular level. All such techniques must, however, be validated against accepted standard methodologies, or shown to give appropriate responses to stressors having well documented effects.
