Abstract

This presentation discusses the role of the National Weather Service (NWS) in the nation's national airspace system. The NWS is a vital component of a government/private sector partnership dedicated to improving aviation safety. Each year it produces about 900,000 forecasts for the nation's airports. The discussion covers the past, present and future of the NWS.
