Abstract

The application of cost benefit analysis to crime prevention, has, until now, been limited. This paper outlines techniques of cost benefit analysis and presents some evaluated examples of crime prevention programs. As crime imposes considerable costs on society in terms of financial, emotional, and missed opportunities, Chisholm shows how identifying and investing in effective programs can be a beneficial process
