Abstract

The author considers that biomechanics is very important to design of roads and vehicles so that both the probability of an accident and its adverse consequences are minimised. Mechanics of injury in different parts of the body resulting from accidents and response of the human body in different circumstances has been discussed. Suggestions are made for improvements in the design of vehicles, crash helmets and safety belts. (TRRL)
