Abstract

This article presents various methods for modelling road networks in rural areas, with a case study based on the Medak district of Andhra Pradesh State, India. The hierarchical connectivity of villages is considered to promote the most efficient functioning of the road network, for intra-area travel in an administrative division; inter-area travel; uniform coverage with higher accessibility and connectivity; diverse combinations of spacing of primary and secondary with tertian roads; direct user point of view; multi-criteria evaluation; and coplanar concurrent theories. The first five network configurations for the case study area are mapped and tabulated and the evaluation models considered for suitability.
