Abstract

A change in the method of administration results in a considerable percentage of reversals in answers to identical items. Similarly, the reliability of the test as measured by the correlation coefficient obtained from the same form administered in two sittings is greatly reduced by a change in the method of administration. In the light of these findings it is concluded that, if it is desired to use available norms for comparison with the results from a given group, great care should be taken to duplicate exactly the conditions of administration under which the norms were derived. The writers feel, however, that the interview method is likely to give the more valid results in individual cases. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
