Abstract

Describes the case of a 18 yr old male suffering from lyssophobia, following a dog bite at the age of 12 yrs. The S developed amnesia followed by convulsions and hydrophobic-like symptoms. In addition, he experienced a fear of water and occasionally became excited. Family history, personal data and the development of hysterical symptoms were studied. It was concluded that the symptoms could have been induced through suggestion and reinforcement. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
