Abstract

A list of sixteen psychological and financial reasons, by the Battered Women's Alternatives (BWA), describes why it may be difficult for women to break away from an abusive relationship. The reasons listed include low self-esteem, feelings of dependence on the partner for support and security, and hope that things will improve. Contact information for BWA is provided.
