Abstract

Despite being a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, Indonesia is a net importer of oil. Consumption is rising rapidly and output is declining. The country's plight is made worse by the fact that its gas production is falling as well, leaving it few options to improve its energy situation.
