Abstract

Latin America's oil and gas industries continue to be affected by a series of political disputes. These tend to resolve themselves into two main categories: disputes between governments and foreign oil and gas companies; and conflicts - often violent - between governments and the people living in oil- and gas-producing regions. One country heavily affected by both types of dispute is Ecuador.
