Abstract

The problem of aspiration of a foreign body is discussed: the range of clinical problems is presented and the pathogenesis explained. The role of bronchoscopy as a diagnostic and therapeutic procedure is pointed out and the need for a highly skilled team of surgeons and anaesthetists highlighted.
