Abstract

A review of methods used in some United Kingdom forensic science laboratories for the examination of items in cases of sexual assault is given. Particular attention is paid to the examination of swabs for semen and the deductions which can be made from the results obtained. The items and information required by the forensic biologist are mentioned.
