Abstract

Agencies and individuals working on domestic violence prevention in Tucson, Arizona, have collaborated to create more effective criminal justice intervention and treatment procedures. This process included a cooperative effort to design a community mediation service that would meet the special needs of families dealing with violence and that would operate within the context of other intervention efforts. This article outlines guidelines for structuring such a mediation program and offers a rationale for including mediation as one of many intervention techniques available in communities for abused and abusive partners.
