Abstract

By way of illustration, the following features of strength and deformation properties of steel at elevated temperatures are dealt with in this paper: high temperature creep, 'effective' yield stress, thermal elongation and relaxation behaviour. The practical significance of these phenomena is discussed on basis of their effect on the behaviour of structural components exposed to fire.
