Abstract

A simple laboratory method for determining ignition temperatures of materials is described. The basic apparatus consists of a tube furnace, an air supply, and a fitting that contains the sample holder and thermocouple. Ignition temperatures obtained by this method are presented for a variety of synthetic polymers.
