Abstract

The gas flow field in cyclone separators of different height is simulated with RSM (the Reynolds Stress Model), and flow characteristics have been obtained. Results show that tangential velocity decreases with increasing cyclone height, and the more violently gas rotates, the higher separation efficiency is. However, too short cylinder height causes low separation efficiency due to the great fluctuation of turbulence kinetic energy in the Rankine vortex interface; the pressure drop decreases with increasing cyclone height in condition of fixed gas inlet velocity.
