Abstract

If we primarily focus upon the causes of death that affect the population as a whole we are focusing upon the causes that primarily affect the elderly. If the focus is changes from total deaths or population mortality to a focus on the causes productive years lost; the diseases of old age will drop in priority and those that affect children and young adults will move up in importance.
