Abstract

New developed graphitized carbon adsorbents (C) made specifically for gas chromatography separates polar organics without peak tailing. These supports are normally used with their surfaces modified with a very small amount of stationary phase. A stainless steel column filled with C A/0.4% Carbowax 1500 can separate ethanol and the internal standard tert-Butanol in 1 to 2 minutes (column temperature 90(degrees)C). The peak symmetry, resolution and especially the time of analysis is better in the case of C Column than the commonly used Carbowax 1500-, Porapack Q- or Hallcomid-columns. The analyses are performed using the head space technique with a P-E GC-data system Multifract F 40 - PEP 1.
